    Hey Guys,

I have problem with a dvd from the states (I am in Uk). When I play with Dvd player app, it plays fine but when I open in Mpeg streamclip rip it plays terribly which I guess is the difference in frame rate. I believe it is from a NTSC pal file (in Streamclip it says native resolution is 720 x 480), I need to get it playing in an Xdcam ex timline on FCP.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance,

    Charlie.

[Charlie Key] “it plays fine but when I open in Mpeg streamclip rip it plays terribly which I guess is the difference in frame rate. “
If you rip a DVD you should be getting an standard file. Pal or NTSC, should play fine in MPGStreamclip.

I’m a Pal lander too, so what I guess is that your MPEG-2 is p24 with pulldown.
Little experience (thanks God) about this, but I suppose that you need to remove that pulldown.
If I’m wrong any of our numerous NTSC pals will tell us.

Thats what confused me, it plays OK in DVD Player app, but not in MPEG Streamclip. Otherwise, I would just chuck it in the bin!

Do you think i should just rip at 29.97 fps to NTSC Pal?

I don’t know what to tell you.
May be MPGStreamclip is more exigent. You know that many times things look well in QT, and in FC doesn’t look the same.
I prefer to wait some expert to guide you. If I miss lead you, somebody will screem to me.
BTW, had you had a look to the “Info stream” in MPGStreamclip?
