NTSC – PAL conversion
Posted by Chris Ruckert on September 25, 2008 at 5:49 pmI have an NTSC D1 spot (720×486 29.97 progressive – no fields)
I need to convert this to PAL.
Do I just make a PAL comp @ 25fps and drop it in?
Is there a better way?Chris Wright replied 17 years, 7 months ago 3 Members · 3 Replies -

Try creating a PAL composition and dropping your NTSC composition into it, then use Layer > Transform > Fit to Width to resize the NTSC footage.
If there are video elements in your NTSC comp then their frames may be blended, but if it’s all animated/motion graphic elements then they will be re-timed in the PAL comp to have the same duration as they did in the NTSC comp.

September 25, 2008 at 9:48 pmits true that AE will work with drag and dropped in footage, but 29.97 to 25 ain’t gonna look pretty unless you frame blend or pixel motion change the difference unless you like stutter. Frame blend is less hassle but can get soft. Pixel can get gloopy. You get to choose.

September 27, 2008 at 8:34 amhow does Nattress compare to Re-vision Twixtor? Twixtor gives good results but maybe Nattress is better…
