I’m looking to buy a ntsc monitor and have no idea what it good. My budget is $1,100. I’ll be hooking it up to a power mac g5 so the monitor will need to have fire wire. currently, I am designing commercials and have to burn dvd’s and view them on a tv to see how they look. of course, this is too time consuming. so, the ntsc monitor will be used to make sure colors are correct, the size of type, object, etc looks good, etc. Basically, to make sure the commericals look professional.

    any suggestions? thanks in advance.

You might want to check out B&H Photo/video and search Professional Video for Color Monitors.

This Sony PVM-14L2 seems to be the newer version of my good old workhorse. Underscan, blue gun and switchable aspect are good features.

I think you’ll need a separate Firewire-to-analog converter, possibly from Canopus, to connect FW to your monitor of choice. I haven’t seen an NTSC production monitor with FW in.

    Hope that helps,
    Steve

Hate to bother you, but Sony also makes a 9 inch 450 lines of resolution monitor (PVM-9L3).

Are more lines of resolution better? I’m assuming that it is, but I’m new to this and don’t really know.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
