I have a FCP project that I am editing which consists of both DVCPRO HD and NTSC beta cam footage. DVCPRO HD is upper field dominant and the NTSC 601 is lower. What is the best way to combine this footage without running into fielding issues? My final product will be a beta cam station dub.
I am no video engineer but from my understanding I am suppose to keep all of the field priorities the same. So I am thinking about trying to recapture the beta cam footage with upper field dominance and then mixing down into a NTSC 601 sequence with upper field dominance for my final station dub. Does this sound like it will work?

    thanks for your feedback

You don’t need to do that. There’s a field switching filter that will change the order of the fields without having to recapture.

I believe that in FCP 5.1.4 (and FCP6) if you place SD footage in an HD timeline it will add the filter automatically and the opposite is true for HD in an SD timeline.

    Go to Effects>>Video Filters>>Video>>Shift Fields.
