  • NTSC 10 bit digitizing problem

We recently updated Quicktime, Final Cut Pro and our Mac OS and now Blackmagic no longer recognizes a video signal when trying to digitize using the NTSC 10 bit setting. It worked like a champ prior to the upgrade. Please help! We are banging our heads against deadlines and I am frustrated with trying to figure this out.

    Hi Roger,

Are you getting the No Video Input message? What about 8-bit NTSC?

Could you double check by trying to capture with the Blackmagic Deck Control application and see if you’re able to capture?

    regards

    Kristian,

Yes I am getting the “No Video Input” message. I have tried with the Deck Control app and am getting the same thing.

    Here are my particulars:
Dual 2.3 GHz Power PC G5
    6.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM
    OSX 10.4.8
    Final Cut Pro 5.1
    Blackmagic 5.2
    Quicktime 7.1.3

We recently added an Apple XServe Raid to our system, and in the process upgraded our OS, FCP, QT and Blackmagic. Don’t know if that will help you at all.

    Thanks.

    Hi Roger,

It would be a good idea to install the latest DeckLink 6.1 drivers, partly to ensure compatibility with Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 and partly in case the system upgrade has left behind some critical components of the drivers. Please install the latest drivers and then let us know how it goes.

We did install the 6.1 driver and still the problems exist. I am coming to the conclusion that we either have a software conflict (or conflicts) or a very serious hardware issue with the Blackmagic. I am hoping its software, because ultimately that can be fixed by doing a clean install of the OS and all of our other software. That may be my next step. Can you please give me a correct software configuration for Blackmagic, Quicktime, and Final Cut Pro Studio using Mac OSX 10.4.8 on a Dual 2.3 GHz Power PC G5 with 6.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM.

    Thanks in advance.
