NTP, time sync between devices (AdCaster & VIPR) – desperate
Hello,
I have been trying to resolve this issue all week.
I work at a small cable station, and we broadcast our commercials using software and a machine from Telvue, the AdCaster. The tech support man told me:
-Must have a computer that has access to the internet (my windows 7 computer is connected),
so that it can synchonize time to Atomic Clocks.
-It needs to be available so that anything in “The network” can see it. (The network being our AdCaster & VIPR)
and synchronize time.
-We have a 192.168 subnet. there is nothing providing time services that the AdCaster can see, and the VIPR is giving an NTP error. Here is my current status.
1. The AdCaster requires a reliable time source, and asks for an IP Address.
2. I have configured our Windows 7 computer to have Windows Time activated in Services.msc.
I have changed values in RegEdit, to Enable 1, and i changed the Announce Flags to 5.3. So now my computer should be acting as a Time Server, correct?
Where do I find the IP address to tell to the AdCaster & VIPR software to get its time from?4. I have tried IPConfig, in Command Prompt, and it lists my:
-Wireless connection IPv4 (i am not using a wired internet connection)
-AdCaster IP, to which I send content to be aired (commercials)I am new to this networking stuff, and am not even sure which questions to ask. any help is much appreciated! i need to get these advertisements running this week
