… and new mouse support and new shortcuts for hardware keyboards in the code of iOS 13.4, coupled with a very long waiting time for FCPX 10.5, do you think FCPX 10.5 could be a complete rewrite that also works on iPadOS?

EDIT: considering that the newsroom press release has a picture of Lumafusion on the iPad, maybe I shouldn’t get my hopes up 😉

I would imagine because of all the “work from home” recommendations, Apple is going to sell as many laptops and iPads as it can possibly get manufactured. Probably true of all laptop makers.

FWIW, Lumafusion will now export an FCPXML, so you can go from there to FCPX. But also to Resolve (directly) or Premiere (via XtoCC).

Of course, you could also go with Adobe Rush on the iPad Pro ☺

I saw that, it’s very impressive. But as long as there is no Prores Support on the iPad (which is on the OS level) it’s not that useful. But I did buy a license of Lumafusion, they seem to be doing great work and updating regularly.

To me the most exciting application for the new iPad Pro is music, especially on-location recording. You can do that with a laptop, of course, but laptops have fans and if you’re in the same room as what you’re recording there’s always the worry that the fan will kick in and spoil it. An iPad pro with a Sonosax M2D2 preamp/interface might be the ultimate recording setup for world-class audio quality in a very portable package. You can record to the Apogee app or record and edit in Auria Pro.

From the effort that Adobe is putting into iOS, I would expect them to have a nice complement of “pro” apps running on iOS long before Apple does.
