A word about our facility: PostWorks, New York, now with Orbit Digital, is a full-service film and television editorial and finishing facility, specializing in all aspects of standard def and high def editorial, film-to-tape dailies, file and tape-based digital cinema, as well as audio mixing. At the core of this broad range of capabilities and services, PostWorks has its founding roots deep in the Avid world. We now own nearly 250 Avids systems, over 90 of which are found in our in-house editorial rooms stretched across 4 active facilities, the rest making up our large rental fleet. Unity is one of our most important and relied-upon tools, as all of our in-house rooms and virtually every rental package connects to a Unity system. We have also been a beta site for Avid for years, having tested at one point or another Avid Unity, Adrenaline, and Nitris. More recently, our merger with Orbit Digital has expanded our commitment to Avid tools even further, and has brought us even closer to the exciting worlds of long-form feature film and television episodic post.
Specifically, we are looking to hire:
2 senior- level engineers: Must have age, experience, maturity, sense of leadership. Minimum 3+ years supporting Avid systems at a high level. Top skills with various OS and hardware platforms, excellent troubleshooting instincts, a high-level of respect for importance of inventory management, workflow fluency and an appreciation for a constantly evolving environment.
1 OSX/Final Cut Pro specialist: should have superb OSX and Final Cut Pro skills, a willingness to share and teach these skills with others, and strong Avid familiarity. Expect to be shared between our production engineering group and our IT department.
1 junior-level engineer: must have minimum 1+ year supporting Avid systems. Strong and broad understanding of all the basics of the Avid editing room: CPU hardware, storage fundementals, mixers, VTRs, routing.
1 intern: only requirements are desire to learn, readiness to work hard. Some of the work is not glamorous, but learning potential is enormous.
