  • novice question: creating ribbon with material

Hi I am new to Cinema 4d and would like to do the following:

I want to add a moving ribbon to my video. I have path deformer (https://www.tarabella.it/c4d/pathdeformer/) which will deform my ribbon on a path.

My problem is in creating a ribbon that i am envisioning. I have created a ribbon like object from a spline but now I would like to add a material to it. when i drag a material under the spline in the object window it only appears to change the spline outline. What i would like to see is it fill the spline.

Also is there a good place to learn how to paint on my new shape (the ribbon). Would the best be via body paint?

    Thanks so much.

‘ribbon like object’? Can you post it? Other than that it should be a poly object

sorry i actually figured a piece of this out. i needed to add a NURBs to the closed spline before i could add a material to it.

the question i have now is is there an easy way to add an outline to my new object. what ive done is create a flat closed spline then added the extrude nurb to it. From there ive added a material and made this new object move around a background that is a video clip. The problem is that the animated object needs an outline because it looks formless without it. In adobe illustrator this would be analgous to adding a stroke. I am new to cinema 4d and dont know if there is something similar.

    Thanks so much.
