    dude,

do you still attend school via transportation on the little yellow bus? curiously, what are your rates?

on a serious note, good luck in life and your search for one.

Unfortunately he’s right..Blackmagic have worked hard and can do
multiformat in a single timeline(new press release). I don’t know how FCP 5 will handle this but it puts them up there with Avid Adrenaline on this point. Also their products in general have a lower price tag…how do they do it.

    Hey uncompressed,

highly inappropriate post. As a professional in this industry Im excited about the arrival of new tools. My post was hardly a “serious” one. As AJA is one of, if not the leading company in its respective area of the industry, its noteworthy that they did not have any new tools or releases to showcase. Its also noteworthy that black magic design always remains one step ahead of AJA.

Thats all my post pointed out.. in a relatively light hearted manner i might add. Best of luck uncompressed.

P.S. You never know who your talking to on these forums and i suggest you remain respectful as this is whats led to the cow being the best forum for media professionals across the globe. You can deduct very little information about my “experience” in the industry based on my post so perhaps you should choose your words more carefully in the future.

Look at the big picture here: should we judge AJA or anyone else by how many new tricks their products can do at the particular moment? IMO, if a company has superior products but lousy customer service and a crummy corporate culture conducive to the likelihood that their best talent will quit (and I am not implicating ANY company here), then I don’t care what announcements they make during NAB. In fact, I HATE it when companies rush half-baked features into a product just so that they can announce it at NAB.

So far, for me, AJA has produced reliable products, consistent improvements, excellent support, and has gained the trust of enough peers that I can reliably draw from the collective experience of other users. I have never gone the Blackmagic route, but it sounds like BM-ites are equally satisfied. Nuff said.

And in the long run, I can “guarantee”, like Joe Namath, that it will only be a matter of a short time when everyone’s products will all do the same things, but in different ways (see: Avid, Media 100, Video Cube, EMC2, etc., etc.). The difference, years from now (when the true value of an investment pay off), will likely be the characteristics of the company as described in paragraph two above rather than the one with the best price or first with the release of a particular attribute.

    eh oui?

stability, tech support and real features here today are important. announcements that allegedly take place in december are not worth much more than the paper they are printed on…and 6 months is a long time! free and supporting your current products are important as has taken place with all owners of IO’s, Kona LS & Kona 2. hardware uprez is important. the new converters fit nice markets–the embedder and disembedder add functionality to decks like the 1200a. but i guess none of these are news worthy if uptime, workflow, support are irrelevant to your needs.

just a quick note, pthe roper operation of a web browser when posting to forums is sorta important too…it adds credibility when you do not triple or quadruple post your comments all in a row in one forum…

I havent triple or quadrupled my posts in this forum. I did in other forums and it was a mistake. The cow server was very busy on the NAB days and kept giving “could not connect to db” errors when I posted so I would repost thinking it didnt go through.

Quick note from me, it adds credibility to your post when you use your real name.
