But I think I need a veg file for a “typewriter” effect. Something I can load my own text into and have it appear on screen with letters being typed across the screen.

    Any ideas or help appreciated

A .veg file (pronounced like “veg”atable) is a project file. This contains all the information about your project, e.g. how many tracks, what media is used, etc.

A script is an executable program that runs within Vegas to carry out one or more actions.

Thanks for clarifying Gary. Do you know where I can find a prject file that does this. I did a search of the site, but was not successful in finding anything….

You may have to do it the hard way.

I’d use Adobe Photoshop, or a standalone character generator if you have one.

Type the entire title, and get it looking just like you want. Save it. It will be helpful later if you can assign a sequential filename, like “title056.png”.

Now erase the last character, and save again, this time to title055.png. Repeat until only the first character remains.

Load all the graphics into your project. Set the default length to be about two frames. Autoassemble to the timeline. Stretch the last frame (the completed title) to whatever length you need it to be onscreen.

Thanks everyone for the help. I did a little further researh and found a program called swishmax – that did this task incredibly easily (I’m talking seconds!)

It works like FLash, but without the learning curve necessary to master flash. It has a “typewriter” effect built in.

It claims that you can create the effect in SwishMax and export the swf directly into Vegas. I wasn’t able to that, but it also allowed me to export an AVI directly into Vegas which did work.

Great solution if you’re looking for this kind of stuff….
