Definitely. Yes. Once installed you’ll get the media back.

May 12, 2015 at 10:25 pmAhem. Yes,
I am what we in the TV business like to call “a moron.”
I couldn’t recall having loaded the Avid codecs on this machine Then I remembered that I had installed Avid v.7 on this computer quite some time before the Pro Apps update became available. So when I did the update before, the Avid codecs were already on the machine. Not so with the recent clean install. I just put them back on and all is well.
I thank you, Jeremy, for holding my hand and guiding me through this slightly humiliating misadventure.

May 13, 2015 at 2:45 amHa! I’ve been there.
Time Machine is truly great for things like this.
Last week, with cloud software downloads and TIme Machine, I went from a freshly deleted hard drive to back up and running with most everything installed in about 2.5 hours. It was very impressive for a start from zero clean install, and not a time machine restore.
I forgot a few things like custom fcpx templates, kb shortcut settings, share settings, and Compressor settings. I was able to reach in to my connected Time Machine drive and drag from it to my clean install and gain my settings back in mere seconds. This same techique would apply to codecs.
So, whoever may be reading this, buy a cheap drive and start up Time Machine, even for clean installs, it’s very handy.
