Don’t know if this is a FCP thing, OSX or hardware thing but, once again I am having trouble saving a project. Trying to close a project and I am prompted “CANCEL – SAVE AS – NO – YES. I choose YES since it has already been saved to my FCP Doc folder on the harddrive. But, I when I try to save I get “FILE ERROR: UNKNOWN ERROR”

I can save it to the raid. I tried to SAVE AS and save with COPY on the end…NO WAY! But interesting, even though it didn’t save, it change the name on the tab in FCP. The project now has COPY on it. I changed it back by repeating the process but without COPY on it.

I have repaired permissions but it didn’t work. But, FCP was open when I repaired. I haven’t had problems with the projects before.

    Any thoughts??

Not a good test, then. Get your OS X CD out and put it in. Re-Start the computer while holding the “C” key until the Installation screen comes up. Don’t re-install OS X, but instead go up to the menu and get to the “Disc Utility” THERE. By running it off of the CD you can examine all of your system, not just the parts that aren’t busy.

I don’t know if that will fix your problem, but that’s the best way to do this. You should give it a try.

Or you can do the same thing by logging out and logging back in as “root”. Your password should be the same as your username PW. Run repair permissions from Root’s desktop then log out and back in as your username.

Thanks all. The advise is right on. I knew better to repair with the App open. I did repair after closing all. Everything okay. I just wonder is anyone else dealing with this? Mine is not often but enough so to keep it on the “whats up with this” list.
