Whenever I do something simple such as RUB OUT 1 CHARACTER or add a video fx on, it goes 100% CPU and freezes, so I have to use task manager to close it. I tried running sony vegas with disable visual themes but it doesn’t help. I have 2.50GB RAM and a Intel Pentium 4 2.26 GHZ CPU (1 Core and 1 logical processor) . It has a 256MB Video Card and its a Dell Dimension 4600. I cannot speed up the pc because I am not an admin. What shall I do? (It usually freezes on Video Media Generators)

    Which Version of Vegas?
Use the Task Manager to see what process is hogging all the resources. (Sort on the CPU column).

Make sure that you’re running the latest version: 9.0(e).
And, run something like Driver Detective to make sure you have the latest video and display drivers. Strange as it sounds, many seemingly unrelated problems are solved with the proper updates of display adapter and monitor drivers.
