I ended up getting a new computer and using Win 7. I eventually got everything to work. I think most of my problem was caused by trying to add filters before I did some multicam work, which I was able to do with previous versions of Vegas, but not with version 12. Good luck. Jim

For those still wondering even though this is an old thread (I use Vegas 12 at this late date.) Turning off GPU Rendering in Options > Prefs > Video worked for me. I had removed my GTX 560 TI video card and was using the on board graphics with my i7-3770K CPU. Intel didn’t give me great results on the preview either. Without the GPU turned on, worked so much more smoothly.
