Not recognizing audio in the timeline.
I have a very large documentary project [2.5TB of media, all of which was imported to my PP CC project]. I cut my first scene from it yesterday, finished, closed out of premiere went to sleep, just woke up and opened the project.
First thing which it did is re-conform probably about 2-4% of the media files everytime the project is opened. Before I imported media I relocated my “Media Cache” and “Media Cache Files” folders to the harddrive I am working off of. It’s 520GB of Cache files. When the project is first opened its only about 509 and then when it re-conforms the [same] clips everytime is returns to 520.
I can live with that, I’d prefer not to, but if everything works fine, then fine however there is a bigger problem at hand that might be related I have no idea:
When I opned the project everything looks fine (the audio tracks show waveform, everything is where I left it etc. etc.) but there is no audio upon playback. The levels are not even bouncing they are just firmly sitting at a depressing nothing. However, there is footage that I haven’t edited yet that was originally brought into the timeline that I just pushed further down the timeline but remains untouched and when I play those parts the sound does work.
All the footage [and audio] for this scene is from the same video clip [.MTS]. Then there are some additional microphones synced up [.WAV] and there is a song [.WAV]. None of that audio that I worked on yesterday is working.
Things I’ve tried:
– The bars and tones: Heard the tone, tried all the solutions, nothing worked.
– I brought in a new clip to the timeline: It worked fine
– I made the media offline and then relinked it: didn’t work
– I save two copies on different drives of the PP project file at the end of the day, opened both same issue.
– Copying the scene thats not working into a new timeline: didnt work
– Double clicking the audio clips in the timeline to bring it into the source window. They all play in source window when double clicked from timeline except the song.Currently using a trial version of PP CC
The project is running off a RAID10 system from the OWC Thunderbay [thunderbolt]
Mid 2011 iMac running OSX 10.9.2
8GB RAM
2.5 GHz Intel Core i5While it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I had to re edit this scene. I am extremely happy with it and it took over 8 hours to cut. But more importantly I can’t have this happen more than this once.

This is what I would do, with Premiere closed. Delete all your media cache, including the stuff that was originally in your {user}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common
Then consider cutting your project in 2 parts if at all possible. Give it a new name everyday in case something gets corrupted.
