Okay so I set up a floor and my text, some lights, blah blah see pict.

Question, how do I get something other than a black background. When I render it with Alpha, theres transparency to the floor, so I can drop a gradient or different color in the background, but you can see (on the left) I get that hard horizon line. I was wondering how you professional types would start a build like this? The idea is to have several 3d words and go from one to the next. I was contemplating building a big virtual cyc, so I can light it anyway I want.

    Looking for better ways, suggestions….

Typically you’d create a plane that bends up at the back, like a soft L, but it all depends on the look you’re after. You can also use a floor object with a compositing tag on it, compositing background checked, so you just get shadows and reflections. Then use a BG object that has the same color as the floor.
