    Hi Guys,

I have an old project that I did on FCP 4 on a Dual 1K G4. When I try to open the sequence that contains the main edit in FCP 4.5 on a Dual 2K G5 (4.5 RAM, OS 10.3.4, QT 6.5.1) it gives me a “not found” dialog, followed by an “error:out of memory”. I have a bootable clone of the System (10.2.8) that I was using at the time that I did the project, and when I boot that and open the project on any G4, I have no problems, it’s just when I try to open it in 4.5 on the G5. It opens the project and asks me if I want to update the project. It brings in all the media and the browser opens just like it should, but when I try to open up the sequence that has the edit, that’s when the dialogs come up.

I’ve tried doing media manager and doing offline sequences, keeping the media offline. That didn’t work. I also tried removing all filters because I thought it might be hanging on some plug-ins (specifically Cinelook). That didn’t do it either.

Anybody have a clue what this means?

    Thanks,

    Shawn Tom

Copy that sequence into a brand new project that is opened in 4.5. See what happens then. If that doesn’t work, try and delete and render files that may still be sitting in the render files folder on the capture scratch.

If that doesn’t work, quit and go home early.

    Just kidding.

    We’ll start with those.

Were any clips made in the Avid Quicktime codec? I have seen that error message when trying to use such files. They seem to have problems working in FCP under more recent versions of Quicktime.
