Not Enough Disk Space?
I keep trying to export an HD movie file which is about 40 minutes long from FCP. I’ve tried it as Quicktime conversion and just quicktime. I’ve tried making the movie self-contained which I think just makes it worse. I’m using a Lacie external drive with a terabyte of space on it!
There are only 12 of these forty minute HD sessions. After exporting three edited videos, I suddenly am unable to export the fourth because “there is not enough space on the disk.”
What could be taking up so much disk space?

I’m kind of new at this, but I believe I’m using Apple ProRes 422 [HDV,Xcam HD/EX/HD422]. When I imported my raw footage from imovie into the FCP timeline, it conformed to match the clip settings.

Open your hard drive. Look at the “Get Info” statistics, sort out how big the files are getting to be. Open up a .mov under Quicktime player and examine the movie’s characteristics using the Window… Show Movie Inspector… dialog. Lots of information.

Thank you all. I think actually my scratch settings were set to my hard drive instead of my external. Rookie mistake. Things tend to fill up fast that way. Thanks!
