Question for you guys using Vegas. I’m a DP and have the new Sony F55 Camera and was looking into possibly getting Vegas, so I could actually try cutting some 4K stuff. Sony is asking me for 4K footage to push their new 4k line of TVs.
Nothing for clients just myself and Sony. Basically just cuts only stuff with music. It’s the only way I can think of getting a real 4k edit done and sent to them…?
Just wondering if my current Laptop could handle it. And how would send them a final…can it be copied to a portable hard drive. What format would the final 4K be in? XAVC sequence?

Laptop is a: ASUS G53S with NVIDIA Geforce GTX 460M, CUDA 1.5GB
    i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHZ, 8GB RAM, 64 bit

I have a good computer service guy down the street that can soup up my laptop if need be. If my current system needs beefing, what does the most good for editing, more internal RAM etc?? (obviously I’m not a computer guy, know just enough to get me in trouble..) Thanks.

Yes, your current laptop can handle things somewhat, Also
beefing it up more than 8GB Ram would be recommended.

And pertaining to the format to render out to! You first need
to get their specific format requirements and delivery options
    from them.

Since few of us have ever seen 4K media, you may not get specific answers. But your laptop is probably OK, but I would recommend that you use a Proxy file for editing. From the Vegas Help:

    1. Capture or import your high-definition clips.
    2. Start a new project.
    3. Add your high-definition clips to the Project Media window.
    4. Right-click the clips in the Project Media window and choose Create Video Proxy from the shortcut menu.
    5. Vegas Pro creates video proxy files (.sfvp0) alongside the original files in Windows Explorer. You will not see these files in the Project Media window or Vegas Pro Explorer.
    6. Add your high-definition clips to the timeline and edit your project as usual.
    7. The Preview Quality setting in the Video Preview window determines whether the proxy files or original files are used for editing and preview:

When the preview quality is set to Draft or Preview, the proxy file is used.
When the preview quality is set to Good or Best, the original file is used.
