I was curious if anyone is having this problem?

Sometimes when I mount the P2 store all of the partitions do not show up. Which is frustrating, Since I am the person who shot the material I know that some of the footage is missing, so I disconnect the P2store and then remount and then the additional partition will show up.
What is going on with this? This is a pain the butt and also quite ridiculous, if I handed this P2 store to an assistant they would just copy the partitions that show up. There by reformatting with the hidden partitions not being seen so it would be erased.

I have been shooting with 2 8 gig cards. When one card is being recorded, I am downloading the other card on the P2 store.
    Using G4, copying with USB2

Is there a way to fix this problem?

The whole P2 workflow appears more comfortable in the Windows environment than for us Mac-users. Key problem is USB 2 and the fact that P2 Store is partitioned using Fat32 file structure. The upshot is that it IS flakey with Mac OS X. Also it’s worth up-dating OS X to 10.4.6 if not already there.

Next, I suggest you make sure you’re using a true USB 2 cable – the little wires in USB 2 are staggered on the inside of the square-ended connector but are at the same depth in USB 1 – and make sure they’re good quality. Thirdly, I would always check in FCP 5.1 or later (not 5.0.4) that the clips show up on P2 import even if you don’t import via FCP. In fact FCP is the better way to import the Contents folder than drag and drop – you will find it much faster too (‘cos of Fat32 files going onto HFS or journaled hard-disk).

    hope this helps!

I just joined this forum and It’s already payed off!! I did a search for P2 Store and this was the first thing that came up.

I’m using a mac and the P2 store is not recognized. Now that I’ve read this thread I think it’s the cable. I didn’t know there was a difference usb cables. I asked someone I thought was an expert and he told me there was no difference.

But what throws me off is that when I insert a P2 card into the P2 Store it is recognized and I can import from it into FCP.

Thanks for the help I’mgoing to get a new cable and see what happens.
