so im running an octo 8 gb RAM,

for some reason, i am not getting the customary visual response when changing a value or scrubbing the timeline.

im not sure if i deactivated something

it only shows any change when i stop sweeping the value or park the playhead.

i searched around a bit, but i hope this hasnt been asked a million times and im just missing the answers.

    thanks, and happy new year

I’ve noticed this too, but only in CS3. What I’ve noticed is that it commonly shows previous pre-renders of the frame, or severely altered versions. A common phenominon is when tracking the play head, one object will appear to be in a different place from where it actually is.

If anyone has any answers, I’d like to hear them, this has only started becoming an issue with AE CS3.

It sounds like you accidentally disabled Live Update. Try clicking the Live Update toggle button just to the left of Draft 3D (two left of the Shy toggle, three left of Frame Blending, etc.) at the top of the timeline panel. It looks like a wireframe square with an X through it sitting on top of another square.
