Norton Internet Security for Mac is totally screwing up After Effects CS6 on my system.
Hi guys, first off I just want to say how delighted I am with every CS6 product I’m using now. Extremely satisfying experience.
But lately I’ve been having an issue with symdaemon hijacking 6 of my 24 Gigs of RAM and 18 Gigs of virtual memory and 100% of one of my eight cores on my Mac Pro. It’s totally honking my After Effects renders on a complex 3d comp. I’m using OSX Lion, but I had this issue last September with Snow Leopard and disabling Norton’s was enough to clear the system so I can render.
I only found out this morning that Symdaemon is a Symantec Internet Security program… I can’t turn it off, I can’t disable it. And in my troubleshooting endeavors I crashed it and can’t turn Antivirus on anymore.
To finish rendering said project, I have completely uninstalled Norton’s. I have a trouble ticket in to them.
but in the mean time…. I’m wondering if any of you out there have had this issue on your Apple machine, too.
OR, is there a reliable internet security software/antivirus suite out there that doesn’t hose After Effects?
Thanks for any suggestions!
MIKE
