  • Normalizing audio across multiple clips

I am relatively new to FCP and I have completed a 40 minute project containing some 10 aiffs imported from iTunes. I imported the songs without adjusting input levels. There is no clipping. I now want to normalize the audio clip levels so that the volume of the finished Quicktime movie remains uniform, and does not go up and down with each track. Do I have to do this manually, by ear, in the timeline, or is there a way to normalize all the tracks relative to one another/one single track?

Thanks for any help you can provide

I’d nest the sequence and apply normalizing filters to the nest.

Or — better yet, export the audio as an audio track and bring into Soundtrack or Garageband and normalize there… then reimport it and turn off the other audio.
