Hello everyone, Im brand new to Vegas Pro 8.0c, and I would like to know how/if I can lower the space required for importing DV. At the moment under 5 mins of vid w/o any effects uses up over 3gigs and Im not sure why. Any help is GREATLY appreciated, thank you.

DV is about 12 Gig per hour. 5 minutes would be about 1 Gig. You sure you’re not rendering to uncompressed instead of DV?

Oops, i dont know y i mixed up capture and rendering. I meant when I capture DV to my HDD,(no effects obv, dont know y i said that). It takes up a ton of space. Should it still be 12G/hr? Thanks for your help.

for instance, ive got a little over a gig left on my internall HDD(about 750MB due to 300MB buffer), and when my camcorders attached and ready to capture, it says that ive only got 00:01:56;28 available time? Under 2 mins for 800MB’s? I plan on using an 80GB external HDD but at that rate Id barely be able to store a few hours of footage.
NOTE: i just changed my source res from 360*240 to 160*120 which bumped me up to almost 8mins available, but the quality is horrible.. is there a setting im overlooking? Thanks for dealing with my vegas ignorance;)
