Noob Q: CS5 PremPro work/flow and into AE
Hey people.
Ive just finished filming my first ever short film and am going to be using the CS5 AE and PP. Ive done various tutorials and side projects in the past so im not a complete stranger to the software.
Ive done external audio recording to my video. Im thinking that I go through all of my footage with default audio, select which shots im going to use, then find the external audio that matches them, sync and merge the audio with the selected shots, then actually cut the shots into the film. Any hiccups in my plan there?
Once ive done all that, I need to take it to AE for visual effect elements like gun shots, title and credits. Ive seen various google searches on how to do such a thing. Might i just load the whole PP project into AE? And if i need to i can probably use AE for colour grading i imagine?
All help is mucly appreciated. I am indeed excited about this new experience of editing! May my head aches not be too harmful!

For a project of any size, importing the whole PP project into AE is not really a good option in my opinion. If you make any changes to the length of a clip, using AE to ripple delete & manage audio become completely unwieldy. I suggest working with individual clips for FX then exporting an lossless file back to PP. Then, only when you are picture locked, you can send the entire PP project to AE for color correction.

Ive done the pre effects complete edit in PP so i know which files im using and i have it in the order i want. My PP project has everything on 1 timeline sequence though. Should i just create a new sequence and copy paste the footage ive got readily cut, load in AE and then do me work?
Do you loose a bit of detail when going back to PP and right clicking original footage on original sequence and ‘Replace with AE comp’? Hence you saying export as lossless? Would i then just import new file like normal?
I should ask, im going to have to use adobe sound booth CS5 with some of the external audio files. It seems that i can increase the volume of audio files in PP easy enough (they all need to be increased unfortunately) but a couple of them hit 0 DB with car door slamming. I cant ‘Merge’ the extra audio with the chosen footage since i dont have 5.5, should i group the footage and audio together in a sequence before doing effects work in AE?
All my original footage file are of .MOV type and external recordings are .WAV types.
