i’m about to start working with someone on a final cut system and have a couple of
questions. some of our material is multi camera material. how hard is it to create
a composite qt file that has all four cameras in a four way split screen. i’d like
to do this as a reference file for the various cams. second question is about 24pa.
how does fcp handle this? does it strip the extra frames from the tape as it’s
digitized, leaving only 24fps on the disk? or does it digitize all 30fps and have
a routine in the app for pulling down to 24? trying to figure out in what state
the captured files exist on the disk.

    thanks,

If you capture 24pa with the option of removing the pulldown pattern on the fly, they will be 24fps files…

If you scale each camera down to about 45% in the Motion Tab, you can easily layer them and arrange them in the Canvas so you can see them all… then if you want you can export this file as a self contained QT movie.

If you can wait until FCP 5 comes out some time this month… it’s new multicam editing is really quite robust and easy to do…
