    Hi Guys,
I’m getting a message from avid saying “a non drop frame tape was inserted. A drop frame tape was expected. Please insert the correct drop frame tape?” What the heck does this mean. I set my deck to non drop frame and still the same msg. Please help!

The deck merely reads existing TC so changing the setting there won’t help.

Next time you insert the offending tape, simply rename it. The Avid basically looks for whatever the existing TC format was. You may have to clear the error message first, but renaming should take care of you.

I’ve found that simply playing the tape several seconds before opening the record tool fixes this. YMMV.
