Noise Reduction using Audition
Hi. I’m a university student and new to Creative Cow.
I’ve used Audition 1.0 or 1.5 for radio and video production. I haven’t had a need to use noise-reduction very often, but it was necessary to apply it heavily when I have used it.
Some examples: hiss on deteriorated audio-tape voice-recordings and worn LPs and, once, diesel-engines rumbling during an video-taped interview.
If I remove all the offending noise (the diesels for example), the heavily filtered audio has a “ringing-metallic-twang.”
When applying noise-reduction (or maybe it was noise-eliminator) to a voice-recording, how would one prevent or take the edge off that “metallic twang” so the result is a little easier to listen to?

Noise reduction is always a case of push/pull. You push one thing and something else gives, so it is a balance. As for other options have you tried taking noise out in the spectral view? This tends to be a slightly more targeted approach especially for constant noises like rumbles or hums.
