hi – i know this topic has been covered in other posts but some of threads seem to be old and i was hoping to get some fresh suggestions.

i’m working on an 80 min doc and using stp for the audio post … without going into the details i’ve experienced almost all the bugs described in countless posts on this and other boards. it’s a real disappointment … in any case, the main thing stp has that i need and fcp doesn’t is a good noise reduction tool.

i’ve tried soundsoap but can’t seem to get the plugin to work with fcp – maybe i’m missing something so any suggestions would be great with regard to soundsoap / fcp.

that said, any recommendations about other plugins would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks a lot

If you are finishing in STP, then do the noise reduction there. FCP is not an audio finishing tool, just a basic editor when it comes to sound so wait until you get to STP. If you need to check a clip then you can round trip it to STP and use the better tools there to EQ and noise reduce.

Thanks – I understand. Unfortunately, my experience with STP is that it’s so buggy it’s almost useless.

Constant low resource warnings, crashes, erratic results in round trips using multi track projects … STAPs seem to work more reliably but I have at least 200 clips in the TL so it’s a pretty tedious process to send everyone of them to STP as an Audio Project.

I’m a relative novice and totally open to advice about the workflow if you have any to share. I have read STP seems to be more more stable when working with shorter seqs so I’m gong to break it up into 15 minute chunks and see if I have better luck.

Appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I use Fairlight so I don’t know what the issues with STP are. I use iZotope NR plugins (VST). iZotope is a great noise reduction system and can operate standalone on Mac and PC, but it will be a pain denoising individual files and then resyncing the new audio to each clip.
