Noise reduction plug-in
Posted by John Magee on August 2, 2008 at 2:59 pmHey,
I’m looking for a free plugin or something to remove buzz from an audio track. Doesn’t need to be super-duper.
Suggestions?
Thanks,John

August 2, 2008 at 3:10 pmI’d be remiss if I didn’t put in a plug for iZotope RX as, at $350.00, it’s one of the best affordable audio restoration packages out there.
Since you’re looking for cheap/free though, check out Audacity (it’s free). -

August 2, 2008 at 3:16 pmI have to agree that iZotope RX is awesome, but I would start right in Vegas. Go to the Track EQ that’s on every audio track and start with the [Sys] 60 Hz hum notch using four stacked filters.

August 2, 2008 at 3:37 pmMy contribution if you are looking for a plugin, would be sony’s
own noise reduction plugin or ‘Bias sound soap’.
There isn’t a free one that i could point you to that’s of any good
use.
As Mike and John said, izotope RX is certainly awesome…so if you are
serious about producing pristine audio all-around…grab this tool.Steve Rhoden

I recieved answers to both my questions this morning within minutes. You guys are great.I’ll start with the 60hz filter in Vegas, check out Audacity, and when the budget allows, Izotope sounds like the way to go.
Thanks,
John

August 4, 2008 at 12:44 amAlso if you can find an old version of Cool edit 1.0, it has a noise reduction plugin that works great. Not Cool edit pro 2.0 as it’s plugin added some phasing sound. I think I saw it as freeware once. Now boughtout by Adobe as audition but I havent tried that versions noise reduction. Danny Hays
