My shop just transitioned to Sony XD Cams and FCP7 from Avid for broadcast purposes.
Doesn’t happen a lot but every so often when exporting the sequence to QT we get a static noise a couple of seconds into the story.
seems to more or less happen at random and on several different machines with several different editors.

Any htoughts would be appreciated… thanks, JR

Need more info. How are you making the QT export? By static noise is it image or sound.

Are you using the XDCam codec in the export or converting to another codec? Which version of Quicktime are you using on the FCP7 machines?

Personally I have never had this using Compressor, Quicktime Movie or Quicktime Conversion but it may be a codec specific issue.
