noise
Does anyone have advice for reducing the amount of “noise” in the dark areas in the pictures produced by the Varicam “F” series?

Unfortunately the only solution I know of at this point is to trade the camera in on a HDX900 which is considerably quieter (due to revised preamps). Somepeople say the “H” is quieter, but I have both cameras and don’t really notice any difference, even when looking at the blue channels on a wf scope.
Of course you’d ve giving up the variable speed feature and the very useful dynamic range controls, so as with a lot of things there is a tradeoff to be made.
