NoFilmSchool: Increasing workflow efficiency of large edits in Premiere

His methods involve dragging clips to the source monitor, marking I/O ranges then copying those to multiple stacked timelines to help find material.
One of his techniques is pasting sticky notes containing metadata on the monitor bezel.
I edited docs in Premiere for years before switching to FCPX. If any FCPX editors haven’t used Premiere, these methods show some of what’s needed to organize a large project in that NLE.
For large docs I used an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of material, and extensively tested CatDV, but in the CS6 era it wasn’t sufficiently stable on Windows to use on a large project.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately he tended to explain this in a rather confusing fashion. Although, I think the approach really comes down to personal preference. You don’t have to work this way. But for some, it helps. Of course, organization – no matter how you get there – is essential.

For some indies, I used Google Doc spreadsheet using the RED camera name data as well as date shot for the Director (and editor, the usual Indie route up here in Canada).
Now, this was mostly for Premiere and Avid users.
Never have to subject the FCPX users with this workflow.
I do believe the Google Docs sped up the process by almost 2x.I am a firm believer that the FCPX workflow is 4x.
