His methods involve dragging clips to the source monitor, marking I/O ranges then copying those to multiple stacked timelines to help find material.
One of his techniques is pasting sticky notes containing metadata on the monitor bezel.
I edited docs in Premiere for years before switching to FCPX. If any FCPX editors haven’t used Premiere, these methods show some of what’s needed to organize a large project in that NLE.
For large docs I used an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of material, and extensively tested CatDV, but in the CS6 era it wasn’t sufficiently stable on Windows to use on a large project.
