no XDCAM EX option in easy setup
Posted by Tel Jaba on June 9, 2009 at 2:11 pmhey guys
I am working with XDCAM EX footage
I have no problem finding this format in the easy setup in FCP on my laptop
but on both MAC Pro that I have just installed and updated I cannot find that option. I only have XDCAM HD!!
how is that possible? is there any plug in that I need to download?what I have done so far, is dropping a clip into a new sequence and have the FCP choose the setting, but I still need this option in the easy setup and I don’t have it

June 9, 2009 at 3:31 pmHi Tel,
I really don’t remember when the EX-1 easy setups get installed.
Is possible that when installing the SONY Transfer tool.
But not sure about.

June 9, 2009 at 4:40 pmAssuming your Easy Setup window is set for all formats and frame rates, here’s what I suggest:
Look for the XDCAM EX Setups in: Applications > Final Cut Pro Additional Easy Setups > English
Once you find them, copy them to: Library > Application Support > Final Cut Pro System Support > custom Settings
Relaunch FCP, and they should appear in your Easy Setups.
It worked for me.

June 10, 2009 at 10:25 amthanks a lot Jay, I was able to find the XDCAM EX setting in the Final Cut Pro Additional Easy Setups > English
but I couldn’t find the folder “Final Cut Pro system support” I don’t have it on any computer with FCP!! -

June 10, 2009 at 12:35 pmSorry, Tel. I should have been more clear. You’ll have to copy the XDCAM EX setups to HD > Library > Application Support > Final Cut Pro System Support > Custom Settings
If you look in User > Library > etc … you won’t see a Final Cut Pro System Support folder (at least that is how my system is set up)
I hope this helps.

Too many and some time creats confussion, like in your case.
If you install for example an AJA, you get another set. If you install some codecs (ie Sheer), you get another bunch..
I don’t know if is a fault of FC or the developers of the Installers.

October 7, 2009 at 6:57 amJay,
I’m a very GREEN apple!
This is my 1st apple so i’m learning as I go. I followed the path above but when I try to install the EXCAM transfer software it goes to the HD or second drive as install options so it’s installed some place on the HD drive. I can’t see it under the FILE / IMPORT as the Sony workflow shows.I live in Iowa in the corn fields so I am the only person in town with FCP.
Upgraded to FCS 7 and OX 10.6.1.
THANKS,
Craig
