Hi, I am in need of some assistance. I am using Avid Media Composer 6.0.1, and I am having trouble with some AMA files.

I am linking AVCHD files via AMA to my project, but when I drop the files into the timeline and try to view the waveform data for the audio on those files, it doesn’t show any waveform data.

In the release notes/plug-in guide for the AVCHD AMA plugin, it was stated that “Waveforms will be turned off in the timeline by default when working with AVCHD media.
If your sequence contains mixed resolutions, the non-AVCHD media will display waveforms.”

I was wondering if there was a way to to effectively turn waveforms for AMA media back on, or to somehow get around the issue of them being turned off by default.

    Any tips are appreciated.

They are off, and will always be off for AVCHD footage. That’s what that is saying. Waveforms will work with other footage, but not AVCHD. Apparently, it’s a very complex format.

Transcode to DNxHD and you will have them.

Hey Shane, I appreciate the info. Do you know if there is a way to transcode the audio only from the AVCHD media?
