I don’t usually work with the PAL format, but we had a show in Australia that we recorded in the PAL format on SONY DVCAM tapes. We have a multi format deck here that is playing back the tapes no problem.

I am trying to capture the tapes, but when I go to the log and capture screen, I get no video preview. Time code is being recognized. If I try to capture, I get a message that says:

“The operation could not be completed as there is no video.”

I have all my sequence, capture, and device control settings on PAL 48k.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Hey, I struggled with this for a while- delete the final cut pro data files in user-username-preferences-final cut pro user data and or start play on the deck first then open the capture window and capture now

    good luck

Thank you thank you thank you!

that sure saved me a lot of time and frustration.

    p.s.
Also seems to work by deleting only the file “Final Cut Pro Prof Cache”
(and not deleting the more extensive file “Final Cut Pro 7.0 Prefs”)
