I suppose this is the best forum on Creative Cow that I’m going to find for my question.

I am wondering why monitors + projectors show the color blue when there is no video signal. When was this decided? Who decided? How did the decision become implemented?

In short, why is the no video signal screen blue?

    Sincerely,
    Andrew

Likely one company decided to do this and then others followed. Blue indicates that there is no input signal, but the presence of blue indicates that the projector is still on. Blue is a pleasant, darker color and seems like a good choice for a “default image”.
