I’m a brand new(bie) user of Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 10 and I hope there’s just something simple I’m overlooking. My first video was easy to edit and everything worked ok. On my second attempt, I imported two video files into the project media window, then selected them and dragged them into the video timeline. The problem is that when I move the timeline or press play there is no video preview at all, not even a black screen. Where the video preview screen was now appears as a timeline window of sorts, with a vertical timeline bar and a horizontal graduated timeline. I have Video Preview checked in the View menu. With the first video, the preview just worked, I didn’t have to do anything special. Any idea what I can do to get my video preview back?

    Thanks for any help,

    Gary

Can you post a screen grab of what you are seeing so we can see it as well?

Also, try taking a known working video (one you have used before) and place it on the timeline in a new project- did that show a preview?

I just figured out the problem. Somehow I must have dragged the upper timeline window to the right and it completely covered the video preview window. Not sure how I did it as I don’t remember even clicking on anything up there, but dragging the right edge of the timeline window to the left uncovered the other window. I knew it would be a dumb newbie mistake.

    Thanks for your response.
