Strange problem that I have with my IO that hopefully someone can help me out with….

I can get a perfect output from After Effects into my video monitor via component and Y/C. However, with FCP it’s a different matter…. in playback I’ll get a black screen, though the audio is coming through fine. If I click the External Video over to ‘Show Current’ then I’ll get the current frame as should be, but when ‘All Frames’ is selected there’s nothing. All presets are as should be. I can’t even get any bars out!

I’m rather confused about this… I’ve just come from the Decklink and Cinewave world and maybe there’s something odd I’ve been doing wrong that I don’t know about.

    Anyone any advice?

    Thanks!

    Hey Jamie,

Here’s a few things to try for starters:

    1) Close the FCP Log and Capture Window.

    2) Close the Edit-to-tape Window.

    3) Make sure that the FCP Viewer and Canvas zoom setting is set to fit to Window.

    4) Delete the FCP preferences

    5) Disconnect any FireWire devices from the computer other than the Io. This includes devices connected to PCI FireWire interface cards.

    6) Remove drivers and codecs from other vendors (avid, cinewave, etc).

    7) remove and reinstall the Io presets (your settings could be wrong) and be sure to update the Io Firmware to the latest version.

If that doesn’t work, update us on the details and we’ll try and come up with some more possible fixes. If you need a quick response (ie: in the middle of a project, or client on the way) then give AJA a call or email. Their tech-support is the best.

    Tony!

Thanks for the advice – I’ve managed to get it sorted now through AJA’s tech support. It was actually an incompatibility between my version of Automatic Duck and FCP needing to be 5.0.2.
