No video, just audio only with XDCAM EX in Windows
Howdy!
I’ve spent about four hours trying to figure this out, to no avail. Maybe someone on here has had the same problem?
I have some Quicktime files shot on a JVC broadcast SD camera, codec is XDCAM EX
720p60
1280 x 720
Audio: 48 k.I have a fast Windows 7 (64 bit) box, and these files are opening audio only (no video) in everything I’ve tried:
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5
Sony Vegas Pro 8.
Windows Media player.
Quicktime Pro
etc. etc.Seems to be a missing Codec. I can’t find it.
Is this just Steve Jobs’ way of saying “You’ve resisted Macs for 19 years, but now we’ve got you! You will buy a Mac!”, or is there actually some way that I’m going to be able to see this video, and edit it, on a Windows box?

I was wondering when this question was going to pop up.
JVC HM series cameras default to EX XDCAM .mov when they record.
Calibrated Software sells a plugin that allows such files to be used on Windows systems. It’s about $90.
I’m surprised JVC doesn’t have anything in their docs about using the files on Windows (or maybe they do). -

We’re doing more filming with that camera. Would it be hard to change the setting to something Windows would play well with, that would be as high-rez?
Where on the camera would we change it? (we don’t have the manual.)

Which camera?
JVC-HM100, 700, 790?
I believe they all can record .mp4 as well but there may be a different way to get there with each camera.
the .mp4 wrapper will work with current version of Adobe Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas.
It’s the same essence but a different wrapper (than .mov).Here’s some manuals for 700

I know this thread is old, but I just ran in to this problem and google led me here, so I’ll post what I found in case anyone else ends up here:
Try this tool by Convergent Design that simply changes the .MOV container to an .MXF container:

It worked for me.
