  • no video input on Decklink HD

Posted by Daniel Weber on March 7, 2006 at 2:03 am

    I have a Decklink HD card on my G5 2.3, PCI-X machine.

I tried to capture some SD footage via SDI today, (I have been using the card mainly to monitor HDV footage and to do downconverts of HDV projects), and I kept getting a screen in my capture window with the BlackMagic logo and no input on the screen. I could see the video out of my HDLink though?

I made sure that I was using an Easy Setup. I also rebooted the machine. still no go. any ideas?

I am running Decklink driver 5.4.2 (I think) and OS 10.4.4

    Thanks,

    Hi Dan,

What make and model is this deck?

Have you tried using Blackmagic Deck Control and see if you can capture? Remember to set the preferences to match your input format.

The DeckLink HD has 2 outputs and 1 input. Make sure you’re using the correct BNC connector. It should be the one furthest away from the breakout cable port.

It is a Panasonic 255 with the SDI card.

I am using the right input. I am getting an image on the monitor that is hooked up to my HDLink via the outputs of the Decklink HD card, so the image is getting through.

I tried using the Deck Control app and the same thing appears on the screen, BMD logo with the type “No Video Input”.

I have checked all the settings and it should be working fine.

I have same problem on Multibridge (MB) if I connect Inputs from VTR to MB and Outputs from MB to VTR. May be You have same kind of connection? If it so simply disconnect Decklink Outputs from VTR . . .

I shouldn’t have to unhook a deck to get an input, but I don’t have a deck hooked up. I have my HDLink hooked up to the monitor out HDSDI port.

I am surprised that BMD has not responded more than the one question from Kristian.

My one year warranty on the card is almost up and I need to solve this problem, and finish my current project, before the warranty expires and my only recourse will be to buy another card. Which by the way would not be another BMD card. I was warned by several vendors not to buy the card, but I had a good track record with their products in the past, but the 2 products I bought this last year have not been of very good quality.

Every since they made the move over to the PC side, the Mac support has not been as good, nor has the frequency of driver updates. I feel like I am using an Avid product again.
