No video in viewer and only freeze frame in canvas

Thanks Devra, Strange thing is my computer is also new, (only a year old) my monitors however are all hand-me-downs, but i did have the monitor hooked up and working fine, then i unhooked everything to move my computer and a little after i hooked it back up this problem occured, mybe something happened when I took them apart? but when I use my main desktop monitor for playback it orks find, but not when i use my 2nd monitor for a preview monitor. also the video again does come up when I go to show current but once i play the clip it goes to white and i get only sound, also i recall playing with multiclips and show multi angles when the problem occured, maybe that has something to do with it? and now recently when i played my timeline i noticed it was freezing and playing back very choppy, as if theres dropframes only theres not, and only on the computer monitor this happens, on my tv it plays smooth, any ideas what thats about? i havnt really looked into but i noticed it when i was exporting something in a rush to dvd so i didnt really look into if this is something i could fix but any help or info i appreciate. This happens to me all the time. Somehow by accident I click my canvas onto wireframe without realizing it. Which then causes playback to freeze only updating the frame once I stop. Here’s the fix.

In your canvas window in the top middle are three buttons, the far right one (when you click on it) should have “image” checkmarked not “wireframe”. Switch it over, the problem should be fixed.

Not sure how this happens but I imagine there’s a quick-key somewhere that turns on the Canvas wireframe, so some missed keystroke every now and then turns this on by accident.

I was experiencing similar problems with Final Cut Pro- black screen on canvas while only hearing audio. Turning off “Wire Frame Only” solved my problem! I almost went through the hassle of re-loading FCP etc. until I came across your post.

If the wire frame unchecking does not work try trashing FCP preferences. That worked for me after the same problem.

Hey,

On the canvas, under image/wireframe/wireframe + Image etc.. You are playing the alpha Channel instead of the RGB. Select ‘RGB ‘ and won’t see again the white frame 🙂

Hope it fix your problem, and for the black screen we know already what it is: wireframe or wireframe + image should be selected.

Same thing happened to me recently. It was because, even though my other monitor was off, my computer was trying to detect it. I would check your display settings and make sure nothing is detected and that mirror settings are off. Then restart your computer.

That fixed it for me 🙂

Hello There, In the Program Monitor, Where the Three little square are in the middle of the screen. click the square futurist to the right and make sure Image Is selected. Good Luck- Ryan
