  • No SDI input causes Media Composer not to launch

If there is no SDI video input to the I/O panel (tape machine is turned off), Media Composer will not start. If is does start MC will not lock to video as reference in Audio Project where we normally run. We have also had to disable the 3D card because it was producing bad (staring/posterized) video. Is this all connected?

    thanks

If you’re working in SDI, then the Avid will be looking for it’s sync from the SDI source. In this case, your tape deck. Leave the deck on and most (if not all) of your problems will go away. If you don’t want to leave the deck on, then you have to get an SDI sync generator and sync all of your gear to it. Easier to just leave the deck on.
