  • No RPF depth of field?

    Hi all…
How come when I render out a RPF sequence from 3d Studio Max and option it to remember the Z-depth, then once imported into AE and then make a RPF Camera, switch on the depth option on the camera, I add the standard depth of field effect to the RPF, but nothing happens? why does it not give a nice depth of field on the render?
Is there a more advanced plugin I need?

    Many Thanks
    Sel

Enabling DOF for the camera is AE-specific. It doesn’t add DOF to the 3D renders. To do that, you need to apply the Lens Blur filter or the Compound Blur filter to your rendered footage. The camera DOF would be used to add DOF to AE elements, such as 2.5D text.

Also, DoF and Lens Blur was substantially improved in AE CS5.5. If you’re on an older version of AE and are planning on using this feature heavily, you will get more natural-looking results if you upgrade.

Frischluft LensCare is another third-party option.
