no recompression required
Posted by Paul Beller on February 28, 2013 at 11:42 ami am thinking. when i render without recompression vegas confirms that in the preview area. but not from the beginning of the process. what does it mean? is that only a delay or maybe those first frames of the file are recompressed??? i don’t believe, that would not be a pro way. an expert who knows for sure, please…?

If you have something like a fade at the beginning, that would require recompression. If not, it could be that Vegas processes the first few frames, then sees that no recompression is needed and puts up the notice. So it could just be a delay but the whole thing is not being recompressed.

February 28, 2013 at 12:48 pmthat’s pretty obvious to me, when any frame is altered in any way its pixels must be recalculated…
i hope so. thanx for swift response.

February 28, 2013 at 12:48 pmThats due to a part of which John already mentioned,
Vegas just simply starts rendering the project as mormal and then
sees that recompression isnt necessary in its computation, then
immediately puts up the notice and starts accordingly….
Thats what it means.
My only wish is that it offered that feature for more formats.Steve Rhoden

March 2, 2013 at 1:53 amI used to get these messages when rendering about whether or not a clip needed re rendering or not but I can’t recall seeing this message for over a year. Is there some way I could have turned this feature off?
Thanks in advance

March 2, 2013 at 1:15 pmYea, you are probably not seeing it anymore because you’re not shooting formats that support it anymore. Most modern cameras shoot AVC/H.264 and that’s not a supported format for no recompression.
