No preview effects
Posted by Luís António on August 20, 2011 at 10:21 amHello everybody!
I’m new here on the forum and my problem is this: I have Sony Vegas Pro 10 where everything works well, but every time I add any effects (FX video) it does not appear in the preview. I can never know how much effect I’m applying, because I can not see the result of the effect in the preview window.
I think I must have disabled something by mistake.
Someone help me?Mike Kujbida replied 14 years, 8 months ago 2 Members · 7 Replies -

August 20, 2011 at 4:45 pmThanks Mike for your help. The problem is already partially solved but not wholly.
In Vegas 10 Pro I got the Split Screen View with these sections:FX Bypassed
Clipboard
——————
Select Left Half
Select Right Half
Select All– If I select “FX Bypassed” and “Select Left Half” I see a window divided into two: on the left half I see half of the normal image, and on the right I see the other half of the image with the effect applied.
– If I select “FX Bypassed” and “Select Right Half” is the same but with the effect applied on the other half.
– If I select “FX Bypassed” and “Select All” the window displays the entire image but without any effect.
– If I select “Clipboard” and “Select Left Half” I see the right half of the image with the effect but the left half is black.
– If I select “Clipboard” and “Select Right Half” is the same image but the effect is applied to the left side (the other half is black).
– If I select “Clipboard” and “Select All” the screen view is completely black.I can never see the intire image with the effect applied. However, I have seen tutorials where the effect is applied to the intire screen view but I don’t know if these are previous versions of Vegas. Does this only happens in version 10 Pro? It is very strange!
Thanks for any help. -

August 20, 2011 at 11:53 pmLuis, all you have to do is make sure that button isn’t pressed (i.e. enabled/highlighted).
As long as it isn’t, the effect will show on the entire image. -

August 21, 2011 at 2:10 pmMike, once again thank you.
Finally I got the problem solved. Now it seems so simple, but sometimes we insist on the same mistake over and over.
Thank you, very, very much. -

August 22, 2011 at 12:52 amLuís, I’m glad to hear that you got it working.
Out of curiosity, was it the Split Screen View button? -

August 22, 2011 at 9:44 amYes Mike, it was the Screen View button.
I was passing with the mouse over the button but clicked only on the small arrow that opened the window that shows “FX Bypassed / Clipboard – Select Left Half / Half Right / Select Select All” and never clicked on the circle inside the square.
Sorry if my english is not the best but I’m portuguese.
Thank you very much for your help.I’m reading all your contributions and, who knows, maybe someday, when I know more about Vegas, I can help other people and participate more actively in your forum.
Thank you. -

Don’t apologize for your English as it’s a lot better than my Portuguese ability (which is zero).
Keep learning Vegas and I promise that the day when you can help others will come very soon.
