NO PHANTOM POWER/Audio level low – Please help
Hi there,
Been recording on Sennheiser’s and wireless Lectrosonics for ages. Today, I can’t seem to get my Phantom Power working. Also, switch to battery powered mic and levels are at least on, but way to low at max setting (have to yell into mic). If I turn on Int mic/onboard mic, levels are great. ANy Ideas???? Please help. Going crazy.

Check to see that your input switch is set to “mic” and not “line”

Thanks for the response Steve, but yes, I did check and double check the setting. I also found this wonderful post on DVXUSER:
We see this happen sometimes. There is an ICP (a small fuse) that is on one of the Power Sub PCB’s that blows. I don’t know what causes it to blow but it happens.
It may be a good practice to turn the Phantom +48V on after the MIC is plugged in, and turn it off before you unplug the MIC. Just a thought.
You may also want to keep Phantom turned off if you plug line levels in also.

http://www.spec-comm.comCalled Andrew on the phone and he told me it could also be that Channel #1 needs to be replaced (circuts in there that effect both channels), especially since external (battery powered mic) are also low in levels. Thank you Andrew.
I brought this info to my service person here in Toronto (and dealer where I bought the camera). They have since replaced the power supplies, the vtr board and 2 other boards, as well as channel #1 and #2 – and the camera’s phantom power is still not working. Can’t seem to figure it out.
What a pain. Hope they figure it our soon. Rescheduling shoots, renting camera’s and waisting money is not fun.
