With my Canon VixiaHV30 connected via fire wire to a Win-7 machine and PPCS5.5 open, when I click Capture, I am able to control the Play/Stop/FF/RW buttons on the camera via the Capture window yet no image shows on the screen. How do I fix this?

Are you sure the camera and the ppro settings are both set to either DV or HDV depending on the camera’s output?

Most people get caught out here when attempting to capture HDV and the capture settings are on DV, go in a change them manually.

No preview on screen while capturing or no picture captured at all?

There is no preview in 5.5 while capturing hdv but there is a fix.

    Close Premiere Pro.
Copy the mc_dec_mp2v.dll file from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\Plibs and paste it in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5

    Restart Premiere Pro.

    Jon,

    PP : Preferences > Device Control > Devices : DV/HDV

    Under Options
    Video Standard: NTSC
    Device Brand: Canon
Device Type: Standard (hdv30 not shown)
    Timecode: Auto

    Check Status: Online

    Ann,

Thanks, this worked! Now do I delete mc_dec_mp2v.dll file from the Plibs directory?

Great to hear it is solved for you.

Thirty days later, same problem! Looked up this post and followed the instructions regarding copying the dll file. This time not working. Funny thing is, all was good an hour ago and 30-days up to that point as well. Gremlins?
