    Hi folks,

I’ve recently taking on an the Final Cut edit suite I used to use for my old company (G5 dual 2.7Ghz, 4.5Gb ram, Blackmagic Decklink/multibridge, 5.6Tb Infortrend storage) and having blown off the drives and re-installed everything, including an upgrade to 6.0.5 for FCP studio, I seem to have lost HD output from the decklink card.

I get SD happily, but it won’t output HD to the external HD monitor anymore (which does get an HD signal happily).

Does anyone know if there’s a magical driver combination for the decklink/multibridge/OS/FCP version to make this happen?

I’ve tried various drivers for the decklink and multibridge, from the most recent, to the ones i’d have used in 2006 when I was using this edit suite before – but nothing seems to be working. I’ve tried it on 10.4.10 and I’ve tried it on 10.5.6 – again, just an SD output.

The decklink card is the Decklink HD Extreme I think (it’s been so long, I’ve forgotten for sure – and can’t seem to find out how to find out! (It’s got three BNC’s, 1 RS-422 and 1 RCA on it)).

If anyone can help, I’d really appreciate it – thanks in advance.

    John.

I don’t use their products, but have you checked the Decklink Forum here on the Cow or contacted their tech support?

Thanks Walter, I’ve just posted something into the Blackmagic forums. Though oddly, I seem to have gained ‘Moderated’ status and things aren’t posting/replying as fast as possible.

(Guess it’s the new email address now I’m working for myself that did it).

Tried BM support and support from the reseller I originally bought it from, but it’s so quiet on the reply front, it’s like they don’t want to tell me there’s no solution!

Thanks for the post anyway Walter, always a great help.

    Hey Walter,

Just thought I’d close this off – as I got to a solution through the Blackmagic forum. A reply asked me what slot I’d seated the decklink into – and when I listed everything – it occured to me that maybe the very thing I was using to find out the problem of no HD – WAS the problem – the makeshift airport card that I had in it while setting up the suite.

    Oh dear….

Next time someone asks you to define irony, use this example please.

I was going to remove it once the suite was installed anyway, as I don’t like having edit suites online (viruses yes, but also a distraction) – however, as it wasn’t working, I needed to be online to download drivers, post in here, work out what was wrong etc etc.

So – the thing I was using to find out what was bust, WAS what was bust! I whipped out the card, reinstalled the latest drives, et voila – HD filled my monitor.

Thanks again for your help – pointing me towards the right forum might have been all you could do – but it sorted it. You’re a star.
